What Materials Do We Use for Flash Cards?
We use heavyweight paper to produce flash cards. This type of stock is thicker than standard writing paper and is stiff and durable—similar to cardboard. It features a coated surface suitable for high-quality printing, and we can also apply finishes such as varnish, lamination, or other effects to suit your needs.
Here are the most common paper types we use for flash cards (C1S refers to cover paper that is coated on one side only):
- 250 gsm gloss or matte art paper
- 300 gsm gloss or matte art paper
- 350 gsm gloss art paper
- 250 gsm C1S paper
- 300 gsm C1S paper
- 350 gsm C1S paper

Flash Card Surface Finishes
Given how flash cards are typically used, they need to be especially durable and hard-wearing. That’s why we always recommend finishing them with either a varnish or gloss or matte lamination on both sides.
We usually round the corners for safety and ease of handling. And if you’d like a hole punched in one corner so the cards can be grouped on a ring, just let us know—we’re happy to include that too.

Flash Card Sizes
We use die-cutting to produce our flash cards, which involves creating a cutting mould. The following size moulds are always in stock, with 76 x 127 mm (formerly 3″ × 5″) and 127 x 178 mm (formerly 5″ × 7″) being the most popular sizes for flash cards:
Using our standard pre-made moulds is the most cost-effective option. However, if you require a custom size, we can certainly accommodate that—we’ll simply need to create a special mould for your project, which may incur a small additional fee.
Flash Card Packaging and Accessories
To prepare your finished flash cards for shipping, we’ll pack them in the packaging option of your choice—whether that’s a cardboard box, a telescope rigid box, a magnetic closure rigid box, or a fabric pouch—before shrink-wrapping the final package for protection.
We also offer a range of handy accessories to complement your flash cards and enhance their educational value, such as stickers, rings, elastic bands, booklets, and more.
